Can't Stream beyond 1.25 MBPS

I've been Gameshow a bit now and have encountered one irritating issue. I can't seem to stream anything beyond the quality of YouTube 720p30 1.25mbps. Anything higher than that and get connection issues with the stream. My internet connection should not be a problem, I have Verizon Fios wired connection. Doing a speed test several times warranted similar results all the time: 50(ish)mbps up, 50(ish)mbps down. Any idea what might be causing the problem?

Here are my computer specs:

Windows 10 64 running on Samsung SSD

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard

AMD FX-6300

16GB DDR3 RAM

4GB GTX 970

  • Have you tried bypassing your router, connecting directly to your modem? Try running a speed test on dslreports.com and check your ping rating.

  • Unfortunately the equipment sent to me from Verizon is a router/modem combo which I have an Ethernet cord plugged into.

Ping test came back as A+ from dslreport.

  • Are you using a paid version?

  • Yes, I am a paid version. However, I think I may have found a solution: I changed my ethernet cord to a different one and things seem to be a bit more stable at higher bit rates. I think it was just a bad wire or something.
