Alpha Release. Osx open sourced piped Driver.

So because I talked to the game show people and they said it was ok to release here, the game show piped driver for HD HD 60 and Pro lines, this is a alpha driver, it may work on your system it may not.

Things to note, you will have to adjust video audio latency,  650 -1500 respectively.

From your source, run ./elgato-hd -r <resolution>, whereas <resolution> can be 1080p or 720p for a HDMI source, c1080p, c1080i, c720p or c576p for a component source or 576i for a composite PAL source. Hd 60 and HD 60 PRO wont be able to use C sources as they do not offer Component connections.

  • It's ok as an update this project is about dead, why you ask, because every time I would fix one thing it would break another or a new firmware update would break the driver....

    RIP driver....

But wait there is still light.

Since there firmware is software based and not written directly to the device there is light .....

I will be and have been working on a total re write, open source elgato firmware that will work directly into game show along with a driver.   This takes longer but even in its state at the moment works about 100 % better and less issues, Hd driver is about 90 percent complete HD 60 is about 50 percent complete and the HD pro is about 30 percent complete at the moment.  Firmware between all 3 of them are about 40 percent complete.

  • BTW, did you use the .exe driver (Windows) to make this?

  • No I  blackboxed reverse engineered  the firmware and wrote the driver.

  • Pm it to me. I have the Thunderbolt PCIe chassis with HD60pro in it, ready on my desk. This would be a pretty big market differentiator, so I am eager to test.

  • driver broke in 3.2 reverting to 3.1 still broken .  need to wipe al of gameshow and re install and see whats up , bryce or gameshow crew if I posted a log or two maybe you can figure out why its crashing with gameshow memory address violation errors .... ;(   Irony is the driver is not using the same app memory space as the software . .  Maybe I am just tired.

  • Thanks and any help would be great , why I don't think we can ever get the hd 60 pro working do to how Elgato changed how firmwares are handled, HD60 does have no software firmware like the previous two.

    • MST3367CMK Free Documentation
    • ITE 61221 Documented
    • Vatics Mozart 395s H.264 lots of documentation
    • MX25L12835F it's flash memory and bootloader for the other parts of the card.
    • NXP-74HC4053D  Documented

I don't have a HD 60 Pro nore can I get someone that has one to do a dump of the firmware.

The other two I do have firmware dumps and been re writing as open source firmware just do to the shear fact there is to much crap in there own firmware and its to locked into there own software.

Right now I can give a driver that gets about 650 ms delay (which is good for the usb versions of the card.) But I can't do it without there firmware which i cannot distribute.

The open source one works but has a lot of lag and crashes alot, I will get you source and if you wanna gain traction on this or have actual hardware to test with as I no longer have any elgato capture cards mine died....  I will get it hosted up and enjoy.

If you manage to get the NON pro version of the HD 60 working it should in theory work the HD 60 Pro as the only diffrence is the HD 60 does not have the Vatics Mozart 395s pci e controller chip.

  • Jamie Freeman that's awesme. I have an hd60 to work with right now. I'll start looking at the documentation on the chipsets involved.

Thanks for all the info! Source would be great, sounds like fun and I would love to get started.

  • Jamie Freeman I'm a professional mac/iOS dev. I can help. Do you have a repo somewhere?

What I'd like to do is get this up and running (I'm in the "Unable to find device" camp on an HD60) and then incorporate into a simple "wrapper" app, initially probably via NSTask to speed up getting it implemented.

The id for my device is Prod: 0x005c Vendor: 0x0fd9

Let me know if you are interested. I'd love to help out.
